We’re a two person communications team helping mission-focused private and nonprofit groups make bigger, brighter impacts on the world.

Meet Maggie

Co-founder & Design Lead

Maggie recently moved home to her native PA after 15 years in DC and time in the Gambia, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Nigeria, South Africa, eSwatini and other incredible countries.

After seven years as a project manager in the international development space, Maggie longed for more creativity in her day-to-day work and transitioned to communications work. She’s worked as a graphic designer and photographer, supporting country offices with infographics, report layouts and storytelling.

During the pandemic, Maggie teamed up with Chase to lead branding and website design for Learn to Return, a Washington statewide COVID-19 school testing program. Maggie loves elevating high-quality content through good design, and cutting through chaos and misinformation to help people make better, more informed decisions.

Meet Chase

Co-founder & Content Lead

Chase is a wayward Texan who has put down roots in the Pacific Northwest. He’s spent almost a decade in global health, focusing on health systems and infrastructure in lower resource areas in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. This work taught him the value of high quality communication strategies and storytelling, a skillset he’s repurposed as a communications consultant for the past five years.

During the pandemic, Chase led the development and execution of content strategies for the statewide COVID-19 testing and education program for K-12 schools called, “Learn to Return.” He’s skilled at building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and creating content across channels that resonate with diverse audiences.

Chase is passionate about public health, great content, amazing newsletters, and working with people who are making a difference. He also loves music, movies, and his son, Cary!

Emcee was born out of Chase and Maggie’s work on Learn to Return, WA COVID-19, the Community Driven Outreach Program and the Student Health Hub. They have a proven track record of helping nascent teams understand who they are and what they need to communicate. While they share an interest in public health, Maggie and Chase have worked across a variety of sectors and their experience as project managers gives them a unique perspective as communications consultants.

Our approach is…

Collaborative

We harness the energy of your experience and ideas to help drive the creative process. Staff are engaged in thoughtful (and fun) ways to help us get a deeper sense of the kind of messaging and branding that will best resonate with your audiences.

Analytical

We consider perceptions of your brand both internally and externally. This includes interviews with key informants, research on comparator organizations, and analysis of existing communications channels. This research is essential to understanding your unique value position, how it has been perceived thus far, and how it can be elevated for target audiences.

Iterative

The first thought is not always the best thought, even if it’s close to the mark. As we move forward with you in the process, we iterate until the right messaging and aesthetic comes into focus.

Flexible

We prioritize your schedules and remain as flexible as possible as long as we are keeping to our agreed-upon timeline and deliverables.

Sustainable

What we build together should be sustainable after our contract ends. We use intuitive backend applications that we can teach you how to use, and provide templates, design collateral, and other assets that staff can use for future campaigns.

We know nonprofits.

Are you a nonprofit looking for consultants who get where you’re coming from? Look no further!

We both spent a decade in global health, working with international nonprofits on health systems strengthening, crisis response, and advocacy in lower resource areas of the world. Working across different aspects of program design, delivery, and partnership development underscored the importance of clear and consistent messaging to the mission of philanthropic work across different fields.

On-the-ground results rely on communication strategies that resonate with a variety of audiences: funding partners, implementation partners, internal teams, public agencies, and those who are accessing services.  We know how to work with the various public and private stakeholders involved to get buy-in and enthusiasm for communications campaigns.
